Used - Vinyl - V6-8476
Beautiful 1962 Deep Groove Stereo Original. “Pianist Oscar Peterson Has A Rare Outing With A Big Band On This Excellent Release. In Addition To His Usual Bassist Ray Brown And Drummer Ed Thigpen, Peterson Is Joined By A Particularly Strong Big Band Arranged By Ernie Wilkins; There Are Short Solos For Several Of The Sidemen Including Altoist Norris Turney, James Moody On Tenor And Altoist Cannonball Adderley. However The Main Focus Is On Peterson And He Is In Excellent Form On Such Songs As "West Coast Blues," "Here's That Rainy Day," "Tricotism" And "Manteca," Blending In Very Well With The Orchestra.” Scott Yanow, All Music Guide.

Night Train
Used - Vinyl - V6-8538
70's "Book-Of-The -Month-Club" pressing. VG++ copy. "Although the repertoire on this CD reissue by the Oscar Peterson Trio (with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen) is fairly typical (with such veteran standards as "C Jam Blues," "Bags' Groove," "Easy Does It" and "I Got It Bad"), Peterson and his sidemen sound fairly inspired. Actually the highpoints are the final two selections: Duke Ellington's "Band Call" and the original version of O.P.'s "Hymn to Freedom." This CD gives one a definitive look at the 1960s Oscar Peterson Trio." AMG - Scott Yanow.

1974 US Original. Strong VG+ Copy. Light Inner Sleeve Scuffing To Vinyl, Music Dominates Playback; Gentle Beginnings Of Ring Wear To Glossy Jacket. "Guitarist Joe Pass And Bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen Both Play Well On These Live Performances, But The Reason To Acquire This Set Is For The Remarkable Oscar Peterson. The Pianist Brilliantly Investigates Several Jazz Styles On "Blues Etude" (Including Stride And Boogie-woogie), Plays Exciting Versions Of His "Chicago Blues" And "Easy Listening Blues," Tears Into "Secret Love," And Shows Honest Emotion On "Come Sunday." Peterson Really Flourished During His Years With Norman Granz's Pablo Label, And This Was One Of His Finest Recordings Of The Period." AMG - Scott Yanow.
