1979 Original. "Along With Acoustic Guitar Innovators John Fahey And Leo Kottke, Basho Is Known For His Work On The Takoma Label. Longtime Fan William Ackerman Signed Basho To His Fledgling Windham Hill Label In The Late '70s And This Resulting Album Is A Little Less Esoteric Than His Previous Efforts, But No Less Exotic. Basho Had Always Been Heavily Influenced By The Music Of India, Specifically Ravi Shankar, And This Time Around There's Also A Healthy Dose Of Western Classical Influences. "Variations On Clare De Lune" Is A Highlight, Along With A Reprise Of His 1967 "The Grail And The Lotus." Most Of Basho's Recorded Work Has A Slight (Sometimes Not So Slight) Disturbing Or Unsettled Quality To It And This Is Exemplified By The Times He Decides To Sing. His Vocals Are A Weird, Deep, Otherworldly Baritone And Are An Acquired Taste To Say The Least. If You Can Get Past The Occasional Singing, Though, There's Some Mind-boggling Guitar To Savor On This Release." Rob Caldwell, AMG more

Falconer's Arm II
New - LP - C 1018
Sealed 1967 Stereo Original. “A Monumental Piece Of Folk Guitar Invention From The Pioneering American Six-String Master, Fuses The Drones Of Indian Raga To Flamenco And Traditional Folk In A Similar Fashion To His Peers John Fahey And Sandy Bull. Robbie Basho Had A Profound Influence On A Younger Generation Of Acoustic Folk Guitarists Such As Leo Kottke And Stefan Grossman, Who Adapted Many Of His Techniques Into Their Repertoires. The Falconer's Arm, Vol. 2 Is The Second In A Thematic Series Of Works The Guitarist Recorded In The '60s For Takoma. His Later Work Went Further Into New Age Territories And Mysticism, Yet His '60s Recordings Remain As Essential To The Anthology Of American Folk Music As The Work Of John Fahey, With Whom He Shared More Than A Few Traits In His Six- And 12-String Improvisations.” Skip Jansen, All Music Guide. more

Seal Of The Blue Lotus
New - LP - C 1005
Sealed 1965 Mono Original (Not Released In Stereo). Just Prior To This Cover Art, This Album Was Released In A White Jacket With An Almost Home Made Look To The Cover Art. The Original Pressings Were Used In These 2nd Jackets. Along With The Early Fahey Stuff, The First Few Basho LP's Are Probably Pretty Much Ground Zero For The "Modern" Sound Of The Solo Acoustic Steel String Guitar Music That Would Become Popular On Through The 70's. This Is Basho's First Record, And One Of The First Non-Fahey Releases On Fahey's Takoma Label. Much More Eastern And "Raga-Esque" Than Fahey, Basho's Early Records Are Absolutely Trance-Inducing. This One Has A Lo-Fi Almost Field Recording Quality Which Suits The Music Very Well And Is Greatly Lacking From His Later Records, Which Would Become Much More Slick & "New-Agey". more
Song Of The Stallion
New - LP - C1031
Sealed 1972 Black And Gold Label Original Housed In A Gatefold Jacket. “Song Of The Stallion Is Composed Around A Merging Of Hindi, Middle Eastern, Western Classical, And American Styles Of Music. The Album Includes A Fair Amount Of Recited Mystical/Romantic Poetry Concerning, Among Other Things, Marrying An Indian Maiden, In Addition To Basho's Deep Operatic Wailing (His Voice Is Not What He's Known For). If That Sounds A Bit Out There To You, Then Be Assured That The Music Itself Is Often Spellbinding. Basho Is A Master Of Fleet-Fingered, Intricate Acoustic Guitar And Most Of The Album Is Instrumental. The Table/Guitar Duet Of "Roses And Snow" Is One Of His Best Recorded Moments.” Rob Caldwell, All Music Guide. more

Sealed 2018 Gatefold Reissue. Though Frequently Overshadowed By His Contemporary And Takoma Records Label-mate John Fahey, The Compositions And Performances Of Daniel R. Robinson Jr., Best Known By The Stage Name Robbie Basho, Were Integral In The Development Of The American Primitive Guitar Style. Along With Fahey, And Songwriter/Composers Such As Max Ochs, Leo Kottke, And Others, Basho Helped Bring To The Masses The Distinct Form Of Guitar Finger-Picking, Which Blended Folk And Country-Blues With Neo-Classical Composition Techniques. more

Voice Of The Eagle
New - LP - VSD 79321
Sealed 1972 Original With Pasted Lyric Sheet On Back Jacket. Three Rubbed Corners Where Shrink Has Given Up. "Basho's Guitar Playing Is Of His Habitual High Standard On This LP, "Dedicated To Avatar Meher Baba, And In The Spirit Of Love And Respect To The American Indian." Those Who Value Basho Mostly For His Instrumental Skills — Which Would Include Most Basho Fans — Need To Be Aware, However, That All But One Of These Nine Songs Is A Vocal. The Songs Are Mostly Inspired By Native American Music And Culture. While Basho Was No Doubt Sincere, Taking Pains To Explain The Native American Elements In The Liner Notes, His Voice Will Be Hard For Many Listeners To Take; No One Sang With More Vibrato Than Robbie. The Song Structures Are Sometimes More Like Native American Chants And Ceremonies Than Conventional Folk Numbers.” – Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide more
