Louder Than God (The Best Of)
Used - LP - RNLP 70130
Tough To Find 1986 Compilation. “Louder Than God Is An Adequate "Best Of" Collection For Those Interested In A Brief But Complete Assortment Of Blue Cheer's Greatest Proto-Metal Hits. Rhino Wisely Chose Studio Wiz Bill Inglot To Remaster The 13 Tracks On This Offering, Making It One Of, If Not The Best, Post-'70s Repackaging Of Blue Cheer Material. Inglot -- Whose Credits Include Hundreds Of Impressive Titles From The Likes Of Ray Charles, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Aretha Franklin, And Many More Stars From The World Of Rock, Pop, Soul, Blues, And Jazz -- Adds Some Of His Trademark Punch And Sizzle To The Somewhat Hastily (If Not Cheaply) Recorded Tracks From Blue Cheer's Seminal Early Recordings, Vincebus Eruptum And Outsideinside. The Group's Biggest Hits, "Summertime Blues" And "Out Of Focus," Get Spruced Up Nicely On Louder Than God, As Does The Remaining Material From The Especially Small Sounding Vincebus Eruptum. Obtaining This Record Might Indeed Be The Best, Or At Least Most Cost-Efficient Way For Casual Fans To Add Essential Music From The Very Influential Blue Cheer To Their Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Collection.” – Jason Anderson more

1971 Black Label Stereo Original. “It's Hard To Imagine What Would Prompt Someone To Suggest The Band That Recorded Vincebus Eruptum Should Get In Touch With Their Pastoral Side, But For Their Sixth Album In Only Four Years, Blue Cheer Decided To Explore Something Close To Folk-Rock And They Sounded A Lot More Comfortable With The Stuff Than Anyone Had A Right To Expect. 1971's Oh! Pleasant Hope Featured The Same Lineup As The Previous Year's The Original Human Being (The First Time Since Outsideinside That The Band Had The Same Musicians For Two Albums In A Row), And While The Previous Album Found Blue Cheer Trying To Buff Off Some Of Their Rough Edges, This One Is Loose, Laid-Back, And Playful; If It Doesn't Hit Very Hard, It's One Of The Most Organic And Natural-Sounding Recordings To Carry The Group's Name.” – Mark Deming, AMG more

Oh! Pleasant Hope
Used - LP - PHS 600-350
Beautiful 1971 white label promo with timing sticker on front cover. "Oh! Pleasant Hope" is the sixth studio album by the (some claim) first heavy metal band Blue Cheer. Released in 1971, the album represents a shift in the band's sound from their earlier blues-based heavy rock approach to a more experimental and psychedelic style. The album features a wide range of instrumentation, including sitar, mellotron, and Moog synthesizer, which add to the album's trippy and atmospheric sound. The album opens with the track "Hiway Man", which features a driving rhythm and catchy guitar riff. The song sets the tone for the rest of the album, which is characterized by its heavy and fuzzy guitar sound, intricate arrangements, and psychedelic flourishes. Other standout tracks include "Believer", a moody ballad with a haunting melody. Oh! Pleasant Hope is a strong and adventurous album that showcases Blue Cheer's musical versatility and experimentation. While it may not be as well-known as some of the band's earlier releases, it remains a highlight of their discography and a must-listen for fans of psychedelic rock. more

The '67 Demos
Colored Vinyl - New - BR 148
Sealed 2018 Single Sided Blue Vinyl Black Friday RSD Exclusive. Blue Cheer Were The Loudest, Heaviest Band Of The 1960s. What They Played And How They Played It Was Labeled Heavy Metal – Partly From A Reference By The Beat Writer William F. Burroughs And Partly From A Lyric In Steppenwolf’s Born To Be Wild (Heavy Metal Thunder . . .). It Described Them Perfectly – And They Ushered In A New Age Of Searingly Loud And Upfront Rock Which Would Quickly Establish Itself As The Outer-Fringe Of Psychedelia. These Three Early Demo Tracks Predate Their Debut Album Vincebus Eruptum, And Have More Grind, Guts, And Grit Than Anything They've Ever Recorded! more
