Blood On The Saddle - Poison Love
Sealed 1986 Original With Small Saw Cut. “Recorded A Full Two Years After Blood On The Saddle's Debut Record, Poison Love Demonstrates Tremendous Growth In Terms Of Cohesion And Coherence. The Group Still Has A Punky Energy, But It Frequently Sounds More Like One Of The Better Guitar Pop Bands Of The Mid-'60s--The Five Americans Or The Bobby Fuller Four, Say--Rather Than Like A Bunch Of Punks Who Stumbled Into A Country Roadhouse (Which Is What It Sounded Like On Its First Album). Annette Zilinskas, The Band's Best Vocalist, Is Given More Microphone Time, And Greg Davis Almost Seems To Have Learned To Sing Harmony. The Rough Edges Aren't All Smoothed Away, Of Course, And They Still Sound As Though They Might Break Into A Double-Time Version Of "Ghost Riders In The Sky" Any Minute, But That's Their Charm.” – William Ruhlman, AMG...more

Flock Of Seagulls - Flock Of Seagulls
1982 Original. Appears Glossy, Unplayed. Light Corner Crease, Hence Price. “The Liverpool Quintet A Flock Of Seagulls First Gained Attention In The Dance Clubs With "Telecommunication," Included On This Debut Release. The Band Benefited From Heavy Play On MTV And Quickly Became Known For Their Outrageous Fashion And Lead Singer Mike Score's Waterfall-Like Haircut. However, Their Self-Titled Debut Is An Enjoyable Romp That Was Set Apart From Other Synth-Heavy Acts Of The Time By Paul Reynolds' Unique Guitar Style. The Kinetic "I Ran (So Far Away)" Became A Video Staple And A Top Ten Radio Hit. "A Space Age Love Song," With Its Synthesizer Washes And Echo-Laden Guitar, Also Managed To Score At Radio. The Rest Of The Album Consists Of Hyperactive Melodies, Synthesizer Noodlings, And Electronic Drumming. The Lyrics Are Forgettable. In Fact, They Rarely Expand On The Song Titles, But Its All Great Fun And A Wonderful Collection Of New Wave Ear Candy.” Tom Demalon, All Music Guide....more

Gato Barbieri & Dollar Brand - Confluence
1975 Original Recorded In Italy, 1968. First US Release. “In 1968 Tenor-Saxophonist Gato Barbieri And Pianist Abdullah Ibrahim (Then Known As Dollar Brand) Recorded A Surprisingly Successful Set Of Duets. Although Their Collaboration Was Unexpected (Barbieri At The Time Was Mostly Known For His Intense Solos And Brand For His Melodic Qualities), They Seemed To Bring Out The Best In Each Other, Performing Two Originals Apiece And Finding A Great Deal Of Common Ground.” Scott Yanow, AMG....more

Parliament - Motor Booty Affair
Sealed 1978 Picture Disc Housed In A Die-Cut Jacket. The Original "Buzzard's Nest Records" Price Tag Is Still On Shrink Wrap. “By This Point Parliament Was One Of The Most Accomplished And Intelligent Bands In Music. With Albums Like Mothership Connection And The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein, George Clinton's Druggy And Patently Eccentric Humor Often Obscured The Enviable Musicianship Throughout. Motor Booty Affair Is No Doubt Another Classic Album And The Perfect Follow-Up To 1977's Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome. On Motor Booty Affair, Clinton Decides To Yuck It Up More With A Great Underwater Concept And A Few Of His Stronger Alter Egos, Including The Rhythmically Challenged Sir Nose D' Void Of Funk And His Friend Rumpofsteelskin. The Deft And Airy "Mr. Wiggles" Has Clinton Taking On The Persona Of Wiggles, The "DJ Of The Affair" As He Says: "Mr. Wiggles Here On Roller Skates And A Yo-Yo/Acting A Fool." The Hypnotic "Rumpofsteelskin" Has A Great Bassline And Inventive And Infectious Background Vocals. The Closest Thing To A Ballad Here Is The Astrologically Savvy "(You're A Fish And I'm A) Water Sign." The Well-Produced "Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)" With Its Handclaps And High-Pitched Basslines Basically Set The Standards For The Sound Of R&B In The Coming Decade. The Sleeper Of The Album, "One Of Those Funky Things," Is Filled With Timbales, Congas, And Bernie Worrell's Great Synth Signatures. The Last Track, "Deep," Has Great, Understated Riffs From The Horny Horns. Although Many Parliament Efforts Can't Be Fully Appreciated Unless The Whole Catalogue Is Nearby, Motor Booty Affair Stands On Its Own Merits And Sustains The Laugh Throughout.” Jason Elias, AMG....more
