After The Gold Rush
Used - LP - ILPS 9282
1974 US Original, Santa Maria Pressing. EX Vinyl. "Add Another Notch Up On This Rating If Gorgeous Harmonies And Really Nice-sounding Covers Of Neil Young Songs Count A Lot For The Listener. Prelude's Second Album Is A Beautiful Folk-Rock-Cum-Country Work, With Radiant Singing And Some Beautiful Melodies Among The Original Songs -- Some Of The Lyrical Content May Seem A Bit Simplistic, But The Record Is Pretty Enough To Overcome That Minor Drawback. It's Just Great Listening, And The Originals Are As Hauntingly Lovely As The Ravishingly Sung Cover Of Neil Young's Song That Gave This Album Its Title. In Many Ways, This Album Is A Successor To That Brief Resurgence Of Acoustic Anglo-American Folk-rock Represented By The First Crosby, Stills & Nash Album, Before Everybody Got All Heavy And Angry -- Say, A Sequel To The "Suite: Judy Blues Eyes"/"Lady Of The Island" Side Of That Record. Even More Astonishing Is The Fact That It Was Produced By Ian Samwell, A Founding Member Of Cliff Richard's Group The Shadows And Author Of The Rock & Roll Standards "Move It" And "Whatcha Gonna Do About It"." AMG Review By Bruce Eder.

Back Into The Light
New - LP - 12139
Sealed 1976 Original. “Prelude Was A Trio Consisting Of Brian Hume (Vocals, Guitar), His Wife Irene Hume (Vocals) And Ian Vardy (Guitars, Vocals). Based In England, The Group Was Midway Between Peter, Paul & Mary And Crosby, Stills & Nash, With Harmonies That Rivaled The Latter For Sweetness And Quiet Elegance. They Became Favorites On England's Folk Circuit; Their Recording Career Began With The 1973 Release How Long Is Forever On Dawn Records, And Continued Right Into The End Of The Decade, Although Their Last Widely Distributed Album Was Back Into The Light, For Pye, In The Middle Of The Decade. The Trio's Rendition Of Neil Young's "After The Gold Rush" Charted In Both The British And American Top 30 And Top 40, Respectively, And Prelude Toured The United States In The Mid-1970s. They Also Recorded For Island During This Period. Vardy Left In The 1980s, And The Group Was Reduced To A Duo For A Time, Before Expanding To A Trio. The Humes Were Once Again Performing As A Duo In The Late 1980s And Early 1990s.” Bruce Eder, AMG.
