Freeway Madness
Used - LP - BS 2680
1973 White Label Promo Housed In A Gatefold Cover. Features The Delicious "Havana Bound" And The Boisterously Rocking "Rip Off Train." The album marked a departure from the group's earlier, blues-based sound and was influenced by the emerging hard rock and heavy metal genres. "Freeway Madness" received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising the band's new direction and energy, while others criticized the album's lack of coherence and focus. The band would go on to release several more albums throughout the 1970s before going on hiatus in the early 1980s. They reunited in the 1990s and continued to tour and record until their final show in December 2018. more
Get The Picture?
Used - LP - TL 5280
1965 Black & Silver Label Mono Original. The album was recorded at Philips Studios in London, and produced by Bobby Graham and Glyn Johns. The album features a mix of R&B and rock songs, including the hit single "Don't Bring Me Down," which reached number 10 on the UK charts. The album also includes covers of songs by Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, and Muddy Waters. Despite the success of "Don't Bring Me Down," the album did not perform as well as the band's debut album, "The Pretty Things." However, "Get The Picture?" is considered by many to be one of the band's best albums and a classic of the British Invasion. The album's cover art, featuring a distorted image of the band, was created by photographer Guy Webster and has become an iconic image of the 1960s rock scene. Over the years, "Get The Picture?" has been reissued multiple times, including a remastered version with bonus tracks in 1998. The album remains a favorite among fans of 1960s British rock and has influenced countless musicians in the years since its release. more

Parachute
Used - LP - RS 515
1970 Gatefold Original In Shrink. “If S.F. Sorrow Is The Pretty Things' Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, And Yellow Submarine Wrapped In One, Then Parachute Is Their More Succinct White Album And Abbey Road. It's Not Just A Time Line Comparison. The Pretties Made This Fascinating LP In The Same Studio As The Fab Four, London's Abbey Road, With Beatles Engineer Norman Smith Producing. "The Good Mr. Square" Replicates The Three-Part Harmony The Beatles Were So Proud Of On "Because." Two Songs Later, The Group Assembles A Brief, Interconnected Three-Song Suite Like The Famous Ones On Side Two Of Abbey Road. Bassist Wally Allen's Vocals On Tracks Such As "Sickle Clowns" Have The Same Throaty, Mad Anguish That John Lennon Exhibited On "Yer Blues" And "Happiness Is A Warm Gun." If S.F. Sorrow Is Hard Rock Grandeur, Then Parachute Is Its More Bitter Twist, The Dream Dying And The Witching Hour Upon Us. Yet, If This Isn't As Much Of A Triumph, The Creative Neurons Are Still Firing Throughout A Multi-Varied, Cohesive LP. Like S.F. Sorrow, It's A Surprisingly Palatable Concept LP. This Time The Topic Is A Generation Caught Between The Conflicting Calls Of (Rural) Peace, Love, And Boredom, And (Urban) Sophistication, Sex, And Squalor In A Harsh World. Somehow The Departure Of The Band's Main Creative Force, Dick Taylor, Didn't Diminish The Writing And Inspired Variety. Allen Stepped Up Big Time Into The Collaborator Role With Singer Phil May. The Harmonies Remain A Strong Point On An Otherwise Rock-Inclined Record, And The Nasty Edge Of Perfectly Balanced Bombast In The Best Songs Have Been A Lost Art Ever Since.” AMG – Jack Rabid more

1965 Original Mono Pressing In Laminated Gatefold. The Early Recordings From The Pretties Were Raw Garage Blues. Similar To The Early Rolling Stones. In Fact Dick Taylor Played Bass With The Stones From The Inception Before He Left To Go Back To School. The band was formed in London in 1963 and consisted of Dick Taylor, Phil May, Brian Pendleton, John Stax and Viv Prince. The band was known for their energetic live shows and their rebellious attitude towards the establishment. The album features a mix of original songs and covers of classic blues and rock songs. It includes a cover of Bo Diddley's "Mama Keep Your Big Mouth Shut", which became a staple of the band's live shows. The Pretty Things was well received by critics and helped to establish the band as one of the leading acts in the British R&B scene. The album has since been recognized as a classic of the genre and has influenced generations of musicians. The Pretty Things continued to release albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s, but never achieved the commercial success of their contemporaries such as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. The band disbanded in 2018 after a final tour, leaving behind a legacy of influential music. more
