1967 Deep Groove Stereo Original Still In Shrink Wrap. One Of His Best Albums As Leader (Streets Ahead Of His Rare Blue Note Outing). Appears Glossy, Unplayed. “The Superb Straight Up Captures Harold Vick's Shift Away From The Lithe Tenor/Organ Sessions Of His Previous Work Toward The Bold Soul-Jazz Of His Finest Recordings. Supported By An Unusual But Effective Lineup Featuring Guitarist Everett Barksdale, Vibist Warren Chiasson, Bassist Walter Booker, And Drummer Hugh Walker, Vick Alternates Between Tenor, Soprano, And Flute, Greatly Expanding The Parameters Of His Sound While Maintaining The Simplicity That Is His Hallmark. Above All, He Remains A Remarkably Expressive Player, Communicating More In One Or Two Notes Than Most Reedists Say Over The Span Of An Entire Song.” Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide.... more details

Vick, Harold - Caribbean Suite Caribbean Suite
Jazz Used - LP LSP 3677 RCA
First Copy We Have Ever Had In Stock Of This 1967 Stereo Original. Features A Stellar Line-Up: Blue Mitchell, Albert Dailey, Bobby Hutcherson, Everett Barksdale, Walter Booker, Mickey Roker, Montego Joe, Manuel Ramos And Of Course, The Great Tenorist, Harold Vick. Shrink Wrap Intact. Appears Unplayed. “Harold Vick Led Relatively Few Record Dates Of His Own, But This Little-Known Session Is One Of His Better Efforts. Known Primarily For His Work As A Tenor Saxophonist, Vick Also Plays Soprano Sax And Flute On This Mid-'60s RCA Victor Album. Most Of The Disc Is Devoted To British Tenor Saxophonist Kenny Graham's Eight-Part "Caribbean Suite," Which Consists Of Musical Impressions Of Various Islands In The West Indies. Joining Vick Are Trumpeter Blue Mitchell, Vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, Pianist Albert Dailey, Guitarist Everett Barksdale, Bassist Walter Booker, And Drummer Mickey Roker, Along With Latin Percussion By Montego Joe And Manuel Ramos. Like Other Boppers Who Delved Into Afro-Cuban Music, Vick's Arrangements Of This Obscure Suite Work Very Well. He Also Adds A Fine Take Of Charlie Parker's "Barbados" And His Own "Letitia," Both Of Which Fit In Rather Nicely With The Album Concept. Long Out Of Print, This LP May Be Difficult To Acquire.” Ken Dryden, AMG.... more details
