Recorded At London's Rainbow Theater On New Year's Eve 1977, The Album Contains 28 Songs (Every One A Classic) From The Band's Landmark First Three Albums: Ramones, Ramones Leave Home, And Rocket To Russia Performed At Breakneck Speed In Under An Hour. In Fact, The Band Only Pauses Long Enough For Bassist Dee Dee To Count Off The Next Tune -- "One-Two-Three-Four!" -- And For Singer Joey To Complain About Some Bad Chicken Vindaloo. It Has Often Been Said That The Ramones Helped Save Rock & Roll By Making It Fun Again -- It's Alive Is The Perfect Case In Point. Long Live The Ramones!” Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide. more

Ramones
New - LP - RR1 6020
Sealed 2018 180gm Reissue With Custom Hype Sticker On Shrink Wrap. "With The Three-chord Assault Of "Blitzkrieg Bop," The Ramones Begins At A Blinding Speed And Never Once Over The Course Of Its 14 Songs Does It Let Up. The Ramones Is All About Speed, Hooks, Stupidity, And Simplicity. The Songs Are Imaginative Reductions Of Early Rock & Roll, Girl Group Pop, And Surf Rock. Not Only Is The Music Boiled Down To Its Essentials, But The Ramones Offer A Twisted, Comical Take On Pop Culture With Their Lyrics, Whether It's The Horror Schlock Of "I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement," The Gleeful Violence Of "Beat On The Brat," Or The Maniacal Stupidity Of "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue." And The Cover Of Chris Montez's "Let's Dance" Isn't A Throwaway -- With Its Single-minded Beat And Lyrics, It Encapsulates Everything The Group Loves About Pre-beatles Rock & Roll. They Don't Alter The Structure, Or The Intent, Of The Song, They Simply Make It Louder And Faster. And That's The Key To All Of The Ramones' Music -- It's Simple Rock & Roll, Played Simply, Loud, And Very, Very Fast. None Of The Songs Clock In At Any Longer Than Two And Half Minutes, And Most Are Considerably Shorter. In Comparison To Some Of The Music The Album Inspired, The Ramones Sounds A Little Tame -- It's A Little Too Clean, And Compared To Their Insanely Fast Live Albums, It Even Sounds A Little Slow -- But There's No Denying That It Still Sounds Brilliantly Fresh And Intoxicatingly Fun." Road To Ruin
Used - LP - SRK 6063
1978 Original pressing. The Ramones' fourth studio album was a significant departure from their earlier punk rock sound. The album featured a diverse range of musical styles, including rockabilly, power pop, and even a ballad. It is regarded as one of the band's most accessible albums and commercially successful, with its lead single "I Wanna Be Sedated" becoming one of the Ramones' signature songs. The album also featured the band's first recording with drummer Marky Ramone, after original drummer Tommy Ramone left the band to focus on producing. Road to Ruin was a turning point for the Ramones, showcasing their versatility as musicians and cementing their status as one of the most influential rock bands of all time. The album's production was more polished than their previous albums, with a greater emphasis on melody and harmonies. This was particularly evident on tracks like "Questioningly" and "Don't Come Close." Overall, Road to Ruin is a must-listen for any music lover looking to explore the diverse and influential sounds of the Ramones. more

1977 Original With Custom Inner Sleeve. Vinyl Appears Virtually Unplayed. “The Ramones Provided The Blueprint And Leave Home Duplicated It With Lesser Results, But The Ramones' Third Album, Rocket To Russia, Perfected It. Rocket To Russia Boasts A Cleaner Production Than Its Predecessors, Which Only Gives The Ramones' Music More Force. It Helps That The Group Wrote Its Finest Set Of Songs For The Album. From The Mindless, Bopping Opening Of "Cretin Hop" And "Rockaway Beach" To The Urban Surf Rock Of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" And The Ridiculous Anthem "Teenage Lobotomy," The Songs Are Teeming With Irresistibly Catchy Hooks; Even Their Choice Of Covers, "Do You Want To Dance?" And "Surfin' Bird," Provide More Hooks Than Usual. The Ramones Also Branch Out Slightly, Adding Ballads To The Mix. Even With These (Relatively) Slower Songs, The Speed Of The Album Never Decreases. However, The Abundance Of Hooks And Slight Variety In Tempos Makes Rocket To Russia The Ramones' Most Listenable And Enjoyable Album -- It Doesn't Have The Revolutionary Impact Of The Ramones, But It's A Better Album And One Of The Finest Records Of The Late '70s.” Stephen Thomas Erlewine, AMG. more

Rocket To Russia
Used - LP - SR 6042
1977 Original with inner sleeve. "Rocket to Russia," the third studio album by the Ramones, stands as a quintessential embodiment of the punk rock ethos that defined an era. Noted music critic Robert Christgau once hailed the album as a "pop masterpiece," acknowledging its formidable balance between raw, unpolished energy and deceptively catchy songwriting. Released in 1977, the record captures the Ramones at the peak of their creative powers, delivering an unrelenting barrage of short, fast-paced tracks that explore themes of teenage angst, suburban ennui, and the infectious allure of rock and roll. Tracks like "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" and "Rockaway Beach" underscore the band's ability to distill complex emotions into simple, yet profoundly effective, three-chord progressions and sing-along choruses, anchoring the album firmly in the annals of punk history. The production on "Rocket to Russia," overseen by Tommy Ramone and Tony Bongiovi, provides a tighter and slightly more polished sound without compromising the raucous spirit that is the Ramones' trademark. This fine-tuning allows the melodic sensibilities of the band to shine through, a quality that many critics, such as Lester Bangs, noted as elevating the album above its predecessors. The Ramones' knack for blending humor with pathos is evident in tracks like "We're a Happy Family" and "Cretin Hop," which juxtapose upbeat tempos with sardonic lyrics. Overall, "Rocket to Russia" is a seminal work that captures the Ramones' unique ability to evoke both nostalgia and rebelliousness, securing their place as pioneers of punk rock. more
